farming & outdoors

Picture
Greg spent his favorite childhood summers at camp. He has appreciated the outdoors ever since. As an adult, he has visited &/or volunteered on farms in different communities.  In 2015, he spent a weekend working on a farm in Wisconsin & another 2 days working at a vineyard and winery in California - to get a more meaningful glimpse of what life is like for those who work & live in those settings. He wrote a guest column for Wisconsin State Farmer (about what he learned from his time on a farm) & conducted an interview (with the owner of an outdoor summer camp) for Wisconsin Natural Resources magazine. Greg has been invited to speak at events for groups related to this field (i.e. keynote speaker at Western United Dairymen's annual convention in California; guest speaker at Illinois Senior Holstein Convention). The books based on his story &/or the companion workbooks &/or related posters have been used internally (ie with staff) or externally (ie with students) by farm & outdoor-related groups like Maryland Farm Bureau, Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation, Heritage Tractor,  Gathering Waters, Kentucky Rural Health Association, Craig Bergmann Landscape Design, Kentucky Association for Environmental Education, Wisconsin's Alliance for Land Trusts, The Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin, Mel's Trading Post, Wisconsin Holstein Association, Clinton Parkway Nursery, Patch 22, Boy Scouts of America Bluegrass Council, Wisconsin Soybean Association / Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board, The Water Council and Legend Seeds. Organizations (i.e. Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation) have participated in The Elevator Project.
