fellowships - residencies
Greg has served as Scholar or Fellow for - &/or worked with Scholars or Fellows in- different schools, programs & institutes in the U.S., Canada & Africa. In some cases, his primary role has revolved around learning. For instance, he was invited to be one of the 2013 Aspen Ideas Festival Scholars -- which gave him the opportunity to listen to, learn from, & spend time with figures like Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer (pictured here). In other cases, his primary role has revolved around teaching. For instance, he served as Scholar-in-Residence for the Day at a community college in Canada. He was the closing presenter at North Carolina Teaching Fellows Junior Conference. A teen fellows program in Pennsylvania had its participants read The First Thirty & then had Greg speak with them at a retreat. The coordinators of a civic engagement program taking place in South Africa chose The First Thirty as the program's 'common read' & retained Greg to serve as the program's Scholar-in-Residence. In another instance, a university got copies of The Silhouette Man for a group of student scholars & had Greg meet with them. Some groups (i.e. University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's University Innovation Fellows) have ordered the books as part of their community outreach efforts (i.e. for younger local students).
