film & theater

Picture
As a boy, Greg spent many weekends at the movie theater under the watchful eye of his godfather -- who worked as the projectionist.  Combined with the time he spent at the local library, he became interested in 'storytelling' & the ways that well-told stories can impact people. His favorite films have included Rocky, Forrest Gump, Schindler's List, Life is Beautiful, Patch Adams, Best of Enemies, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, Field of Dreams, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Natural, WIlly Wonka, A Few Good Men, Remember the Titans, Hotel Rwanda, A Bronx Tale, Stand and Deliver, Shawshank Redemption, E.T., and Dead Poets Society. On Greg's 30th birthday, Loews Cineplex Entertainment hosted an event at the theater, featuring a sneak preview of a rough draft of his first film. Soon after, The Washington Post ran a story profiling Greg & Steven Spielberg, comparing their educational experiences, their career paths & their legacies. The book based on Greg's story includes a significant focus on the influence that films had on his efforts in the community (& on his life, in general). In conjunction with an event in Michigan,  The Kalamazoo 10 (Goodrich Quality Theaters) ordered copies of the book for selected local residents.  Over the years, Greg has received invitations to transform the book based on his story into a one man play for the evening.
