Visit One
In May, to end a school year, a public elementary school had Greg do Readings of the upcoming picture book edition of The First Thirty for two groups of the school's 4th graders. After the Readings, the kids did worksheets reflecting on the lessons learned from the story. In conjunction with the visit, a restaurant ordered copies of the book posters for all of the 4th graders as a surprise.
Visit Two
In September, the school invited Greg to return to help kick off the new school year & the school's chosen theme for the year (which focused on kindness, the gifts within us and the gift of giving). For Visit Two, Greg spent a full day at the school. It began with him speaking at a brief 15 minute assembly for all of the kids. Then, he spent the day doing Readings of the upcoming picture book for each grade (1st-4th) and working with the kids on post-Reading activities in their classrooms. Halfway through the day, Greg joined the school's selected Student Ambassadors for grilled cheese-and-milkshakes lunch & a conversation about leadership by example. In conjunction with Visit Two, a sponsor ordered a stack of copies of The First Thirty as a surprise for the school's teachers to share. Another sponsor ordered copies of The First Thirty for all of the Student Ambassadors who participated in the lunch. CLICK THE PICTURES BELOW FOR CAPTIONS
