The Shilale Family's During-The-Pandemic Intergenerational Book Club
The Silhouette Man tells the story of a teacher who tries to make a difference at school & in the community, his previous experiences as a student that shaped his path & the grandparent who mentors him all along the way. It was honored in Canada as a book that celebrates the wisdom of seniors. The condensed version for 5th thru 12th grade students - The First Thirty - was NSDLC Multicultural Relations Book of the Year. The Milkshake Man is the illustrated version for K-4th grade reading level. Each book also has a companion workbook (A Place To Sit for The Silhouette Man or The First Thirty, One Lunch for The Milkshake Man)
As a way to bring people together around a positive story during a challenging time, The Shilale's have decided to use this book series for their own During-The-Pandemic Book Club and invite their students, family, friends & colleagues to join in. And since there is a different version of the story for each age range, anyone from Kindergarten to Senior Citizen can participate!
