Military / Law Enforcement / First Responders
The son & nephew of Veterans, Greg has a lot of respect for those who protect & serve their communities & country. His support has taken different forms. On a professional level, he has accepted invites to speak at events related to Military, Law Enforcement & First Responders. In America, for instance, he was Opening Speaker at a conference in Minnesota for officers who work with juveniles. He also has spoken at events for students at a number of military academies in the USA. In Canada, he served as guest speaker at an annual event for students for Remembrance Day. The book based on Greg's story has been used in these kind of settings as well (i.e. USO of Illinois ordered copies of The First Thirty for people being honored for their service to military families.) He has written for many magazines -- including a profile & interview with a member of The United States. Army Band, "Pershing's Own". On a civic level, Greg has volunteered his time to visit with older military Veterans around the USA. His foundation funded a series of scholarships for students in Oklahoma who are studying for EMS, Paramedic or First Responder careers. For his civic efforts, Greg has received some meaningful honors - including the Jefferson Award for Public Service. He also received an honor with a fun military connection: Hasbro honored him as one of 35 people who reflect the ‘spirit of G.I. Joe’ and ‘demonstrate heroism in their every day lives’.
