FEEDBACK SAMPLE FROM PREVIEW READINGS OF UPCOMING CHILDREN'S PICTURE BOOK EDITION OF THE FIRST THIRTY
Ms. Pellecchia, Administrative Coordinator, Montessori Academy of Cincinnati: "Thank you so much to Greg for coming today!....
Everyone - students and teachers - thoroughly enjoyed his presentation. The new book is wonderful; the message is so meaningful and inspiring. He captivated the children with every page he read. The [Q&A with the kids that] he led after the reading helped the students reflect not only on the content of the book, but of the important people and events in their lives, and how today may affect tomorrow. They and the staff left him feeling inspired! Thank you!"
Amy Davis, Principal, Elementary/Middle School, Learning Prep School (MA): "Greg's [reading of the draft of the upcoming children's picture book edition of The First Thirty for our elementary school students] was so engaging that even our most active ones were captivated by all of it. I had one student comment on how much she loved the drawings. The story line of the book itself was perfect for our students and I was impressed at how many lessons the students learned from it. They were fully engaged and answered all of Greg's questions [after the reading] thoughtfully!... a great experience for our students."
SAMPLE OF FEEDBACK ON THE FIRST THIRTY:
Richard Freedman, Director, South African Holocaust & Genocide Foundation: "The First Thirty has given me much food for thought and I am quite sure will resonate with me in the years to come. Today is Youth Day in South Africa which recognises the contribution that young people have made in the struggle against apartheid and the rebuilding of our country after apartheid. It is also meant to inspire young people to take on their own potential and to find their way in the world. This book shows how that is possible and that it mostly the curved line which offers the greatest opportunity for growth and for something special to be achieved...."
Meagham, Teacher, Illinois: "...I have been using The First Thirty as a reading text with my 4th grade class. The kids are highly engaged in the story. The vignettes and lessons provide so many jumping off points for thoughtful, critical discussion. I bought each of my kids a copy of the book so that they could make it their own by writing notes in the margins and underlining sentences and phrases that really stood out to them. They have also populated their books with sticky notes filled with questions, connections, evaluations, and analysis... I think this book is a wonderful teaching tool because it addresses so many of the kinds of issues kids face – like teasing, bullying, respect, self-esteem, imagination, friendships, loss, facing challenging situations, overcoming setbacks and obstacles, race/ethnicity and a variety of other important life issues. As I mentioned, my kids love it! The book also provides many opportunities for writing extensions and could easily provide a starting point for social studies related discussions or art projects. The reading level is accessible to my 4th grade students, especially with my support, and would be great for [independent reading] for kids at the 5th or 6th grade reading levels [and up]..."

SAMPLE OF EVENT FEEDBACK FOR TEACHERS/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
Mr. Kallieris, Principal, Oak Terrace School: “….The faculty meeting was incredible…I've had numerous staff members state that he made them think about who we are as a school through a completely different lens. If our mission is achievement for all, then we all must think about ways to make this happen in our day-to-day life. It was a thought-provoking meeting that led our staff into prioritizing our mission for students.”
SAMPLE OF MEDIA:
Teacher Information Network: "The First Thirty is a dazzling gem. When you finish, you will want your students to read it, too. Its lessons are immensely teachable."
