books - speech/fitness

Picture
The books based on Greg's story -- The  First Thirty by Jillip Naysinthe Paxson, and expanded version The Silhouette Man  -- highlight positive lessons we learn from sports as well as sports-relevant lessons related to leadership, teamwork, work ethic, perseverance and diversity. The First Thirty was NSDLC 2007 Multicultural Relations Book of the Year. College & pro sports teams, food & beverage companies, and health & fitness related organizations have  ordered copies of the books for their own staff, team members, clients, donors,  beneficiaries, local students in their respective communities and/or as gifts. In some cases, they have also sponsored contests  based on the book in their community. Examples include: Toronto Blue Jays,  Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, California Milk Advisory Board, GetReal Junior Cycling Team, St. John's University women's soccer team,  General Mills, a chapter of MS Society as well as Youth Against MS, The Republic of Tea, Foot Associates  of New York, Wellbridge Athletic Club, and branches of stores  like GNC Live Well and Jamba Juice. In other cases, third parties have bought copies of the books for teams. For example, Minneapolis-St. Paul  International Airport ordered copies of The First Thirty for every player on the Rochester Red Wings (AAA affiliate  of the Minnesota Twins) and an individual Chicago White Sox fan bought a copy of The Silhouette Man for every player on the White Sox AAA team.
